Black Knights’ senior signal-caller and the Black Knights got off to a hot start against Conestoga Valley; he talks about this week’s big game at Garden Spot

Hempfield senior QB Jarvis Cummings // LNP photoYou’ve heard me go on and on (and on and on) about Hempfield’s new spread offense, and how the Black Knights wanted to open things up this season.

And when the football season kicked off last Friday, and Hempfield debuted its new-look scheme, the Knights did not disappoint.

Hempfield got off to a rousing start, piling up 385 yards of total offense in its 41-13 win over Conestoga Valley.

And the triggerman of the Knights’ new-look O, senior QB Jarvis Cummings, got off to a terrific start, rushing for 167 yards and scoring a pair of touchdowns, and completing 4-of-8 passes for 93 yards.

Up next for Hempfield and its powerful O is Garden Spot, on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in New Holland.

The Spartans are also feeling fine after a 17-14 victory over Warwick in Week 1.

Can Hempfield’s O have another big week? For the answer, I went to Cummings, who joined me for this audio Podcast. In our interview, you’ll hear Jarvis put a bow on last week’s big start, and how he thinks he and the Knights will matchup with Garden Spot – plus some other goodies in there along the way.
