Raiders’ football coach talks about Player of the Week Arron Achey, Elco’s fast start
Elco coach Mark Evans was just sitting down to show his team the game tape of the Raiders’ thrill-a-minute 21-20 win over Hamburg when I came stumbling into the locker room Monday morning.
Must admit that it’s really, really cool watching a coach break down game tape. It’s beautiful. Constructive criticism is a great thing, also. And let me tell you, the ‘rewind’ button got a good workout while I was in there. Thanks to Evans and his crew for the access. I appreciate it.
Anyhoo … I got to watch Evans in action for several minutes before he joined me for an interview.
The topic was twofold – Elco’s junior quarterback, Arron Achey, who delivered three second-half touchdown runs to lift the Raiders over Hamburg, was named this season’s first New Era Player of the Week. Second, I wanted to get his thoughts on the team’s nice start, and how that momentum might carry over into Week 2. Evans also chatted about his coaching philosophies, and shared some of his favorite cliches. This guy is a terrific quote, by the way.
