Manheim Central’s Jenna Proffitt, Katie Baldonieri and Kayla Cook, Donegal’s Whitney Breneman and Nicky Hess and Hempfield’s Brittany Hammer make the list.
Six Lancaster County softball players have earned First-Team All-Star honors, voted on by committee members from each district across the state.
Leading the way is a trio of Manheim Central players, who were named to the Triple-A First-Team.
Ace pitcher Jenna Proffitt leads the pack. The hard-throwing righty is off to Indiana (Pa.) this fall, and she’ll pitch at the collegiate level next spring.
Proffitt was joined on the First-Team by teammates Katie Baldonieri, a senior outfielder, and rising senior catcher Kayla Cook.
A pair of Donegal players were also named First-Team All-State in Triple-A – rising seniors Whitney Breneman, a second baseman, and outfielder Nicky Hess made the list.
Hess, who hit .451, knocked in 27 runs and stole 16 bases this past spring, was also a Lancaster Newspapers All-Star.
Breneman and Hess were key cogs on a Donegal team that won the Section 3 title and reached the L-L League semifinals before making a spirited run to the District 3 Triple-A championship game – for the third season in a row – before bowing out in the PIAA Triple-A semifinals.
The Indians will lose just two full-time players from that team.
One Lancaster County player was named First-Team All-State in Quad-A – Hempfield junior shortstop Brittany Hammer.
Donegal pitcher Abby Hoover and Lampeter-Strasburg catcher Katie Lynch, both rising seniors, were named to the Triple-A All-State Second-Team.
Lynch, who batted .508 and drove in 25 runs for the Pioneers this past spring, is the reigning Lancaster Newspapers co-Player of the Year.
