The numbers – and there are plenty of eye-popping ones – keep coming at you in waves.
Receiving yards – 1,029.
Kick-return yards – 875.
Rushing yards – 451.
Punt-return yards – 86.
Passing yards – 35.
After a trip to the drawer to find my trusty calculator, and after punching in those numbers, it spit out 2,476.
That’s 2,476 all-purpose yards gained last year by Pequea Valley’s Sean Persch, who will be back to pester opposing secondaries for the Braves this season.
And what a junior season for Persch, who led the L-L League with 71 receptions, and was one of just two wideouts to go over 1,000 receiving yards.
The kid rarely took a play off (he also started on defense and was a special teams fiend) and even though the Braves went 0-10, he was rewarded for his fine season when he was named Double-A Second-Team All-State by the Associated Press.
My next L-L League football preview audio Podcast interview subject is Mr. Persch, who talks about the gaudy numbers he put up last season, about how the Braves would absolutely love to break into the win column this season, and about how college recruiters are now snooping around Kinzers.
I said it last fall, you’ll hear me say it on this Podcast, and I’ll say it again right now for good measure: Get yourself to Kinzers this fall to watch Persch in action. He is a true hidden gem.

And be sure to check back for more audio Podcast interviews soon. I have a couple more up my sleeve.
