Warwick had an unforgettable football season in 2007 – the Warriors went 9-1 in the regular season, finished a game behind Manheim Township in the hot-and-heavy Section 1 race, and knocked off perennial Section 1 heavyweight Wilson (on the road, no less) before going to the District 3 Quad-A playoffs for the second year in a row.
The Warriors had stars aplenty – quarterback Jon Resch, wideout/DB extraordinaire Zach Snyder and a boatload of talented offensive lineman, to name a few.
But it was a junior running back that helped kick-start Warwick’s offense, which piled up some unbelievable numbers: the Warriors finished third in the league in total offense, cranking out 362.7 yards a game – including 2,144 passing yards by Resch, who garnered several postseason all-star honors.
That junior running back was Jon’s little brother – Eric Resch, who had quite the breakout season in the Warriors’ backfield.
In the feature-back position for the first time in his varsity career, Resch piled up 1,193 yards on 274 carries and scored 16 touchdowns in 11 total games. He was the ninth-leading rusher in the league.
His 274 attempts were No. 1 in the league, so he was a durable workhorse.
And during the regular season, Resch finished tied for first in Section 1 in rushing yards with Penn Manor’s Carl Christmas (1,069). Those two will both return this fall, setting up what should be an interesting race in the rushing derby.
Up next in my summer series of audio Podcast interviews is Eric Resch, who will definitely be a player to keep an eye on this season.
In this post, you’ll hear Eric talk about last season’s great run; about what his brother Jon is up to, and what it was like playing in the same backfield with his big bro; about some of the new faces who will be helping out the Warriors this fall; and about his wrestling career, which isn’t too shabby, either.

And stay tuned for more interviews coming soon …
