Didn’t realize it until I stumbled across a calendar late Wednesday afternoon, but today was the two-month anniversary since I started my diet.
Wow, two months.
And what a two months it’s been since I got this started on May 8.
I got off to a hot start, dropping 22 pounds in the first two weeks. Then I hit a bit of a lull, averaging somewhere between losing 2 and 3 pounds a week – still good numbers, and still losing weight, which is a good thing.
Happy to report that this past week was a success.
Since today is the two-month anniversary since my start date, I thought I’d hop on the scale today instead of my normal Thursday weigh-in.
And when I stepped on the scale, I was delighted to see that I dropped six (6) pounds since my last post. That made me feel really good.
So what have I learned in the last two months?
For starters, I learned that I used to eat tons of junk food (at really bad times of the day) for pretty much no reason at all – boredom, routine, schedule, sleeping patterns, nothing better to do, etc, etc.
I also learned that I can’t stuff my face anymore, and that I used to eat and eat and eat, as if someone was going to steal the food off my plate or something.
I learned that I really like water – nothing like an ice cold bottle of water. It really hits the spot. Sure, I miss diet soda. But since I only have it when we go out, it’s like a treat. But I’m digging water. I’ve probably had some days where I’ve downed a whole gallon. Yum.
I learned that I enjoy walking on the treadmill. Since I started on May 8, I’ve missed just one (1) day of walking, and that includes a week at the beach, when we power-walked on the boardwalk everyday. And for the last several weeks I’ve bumped my routine up to 50 minutes per treadmill session. We’ve been doing a lot of extra laundry at our place, as you can imagine.
I finished off all nine seasons of Seinfeld. And just today I started my next box set: Hogan’s Heroes. Wow, is that dorky or what?
Thanks again for the notes with words of encouragement. I certainly appreciate it.
Alrighty then – an update:
STARTING WEIGHT: 319 on May 8.
LAST UPDATE: July 3 – 284.
CURRENT WEIGHT: 278.
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS TO DATE: 41 big pounds.
NOTABLE: Yay! I’m out of the 280s and in the 270s for the first time in … don’t even remember, quite frankly. My clothes are getting baggy and my upper body is really thinning out. I’m feeling good. And since I’m not lugging as much weight around, I’m not as hot. This time of year, I’m usually a walking puddle. Not so far this summer. Hit my goal from last week for the ‘7’ to pop up … meaning my next goal is to see a ‘6′ pop up. Wish me luck.
