Stumbled across this coaching search blip in the Lancaster Sunday News:

Conestoga Valley School District has openings for an athletic trainer, chess coach, head girls’ volleyball coach, head boys’ volleyball coach, assistant swim coach, assistant baseball coach and a head girls’ soccer coach. Interested persons should contact Zac Kraft, Athletic Director, at 397-5231 ext. 2303 or e-mail at zac_kraft@cvsd.k12.pa.us. A recent PA Criminal Background Check, a PA Child Abuse Clearance Check and a Federal FBI Background Check are necessary. A letter and resume can be mailed to: Zac Kraft, Athletic Director, Conestoga Valley High School, 2110 Horseshoe Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.

Yep, Conestoga Valley is looking for a new head varsity boys’ and girls’ volleyball coach, which means longtime coach Al Kofroth is out after spending 24 years on the boys’ bench and 17 years on the girls’ bench.

His girls’ team won the PIAA title in 2003, and Kofroth coached Kim Glass, who is currently battling for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.

I chatted briefly with the folks at Conestoga Valley on Monday morning, and the only thing I’d like to pass along from that conversation is that CV decided to go in a different direction with its volleyball program, and that direction does not include Kofroth as the head coach of the boys’ or girls’ teams.

I don't much about the volleyball program...but c.v.should start with it's football program first...what a mess over there five starters have quit or transfered out due to coaching issues...at least the volleyball won...don't see c.v. football winning much anytime soon

I concur. CV has only won 12 football games in the last four years if I am not mistaken. They were in complete disarray last year, making fundamental mistakes throughout the year. The handling by the coaching staff of their starting quarterback (Helm) was atrocious. They would pull him from the game if he made one mistake. Imagine Joe Paterno doing that with Morelli. Helm would have been an excellent quarterback if he had been given the opportunity to perform.

The whole football program was not managed well. The website was terrible...I don't think it ever was complete. The programs weren't ready for the first home game. I can't count the number of times CV was penalized for delay of game, only because the coaching staff didn't have the play ready. All these things are negative indicators...indicitive of a need for a coaching change.

totally agree with you on all points...do you realize Helm threw for over 500 yds 7 td and rushed for 200 yds 2 tds in 5 games started on a bad team, and granted he did have health issues after the going out against etown after three plays with a high ankle problem...and now you have no o-line left...hall is gone to L.C. Tanner is gone to donegal, jordan quit and Helm opted to focus on baseball and play fall ball. Im not sure what kind of team they will field, they have some talent..kelley namely, but no QB and a young line means big trouble....defense might be a little better, but again no d-line
