Donegal catcher Taylor Hatt and her Indians’ teammates are heading to the state semifinals // LNP photoPhil Glatfelter just checked in from Lyons Field in Fleetwood, where Donegal knocked off District 11 champ Palisades 2-1 in a thrill-a-minute PIAA Triple-A girls’ softball quarterfinal on Thursday afternoon.

Laura Gebhart drove in a pair of runs for the Indians – including the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th – and Donegal, the 2006 state Triple-A champ, lived to play another day.

Donegal, the District 3 Triple-A runner and L-L League Section 3 champ, will take on District 4 champ Milton in a state semifinal game on Monday.

Thursday, Gebhart knocked in both runs for Donegal. In the third, Katie Robinson opened with a triple, and Gebhart knocked her in with a sacrifice.

In the 10th, Kelsey Hannold opened with a triple and scored on Gebhart’s sacrifice fly.

Abby Hoover went the distance for Donegal, picking up the win.

Much, much more coverage on Friday from Phil. I’ll be sure to post his story ASAP.
