The Lancaster-Lebanon League community was stunned last winter when longtime referee Tim Bartholomew passed away after officiating a boys’ basketball game.
But I’m happy to report that the good folks in Columbia have organized a basketball tournament - Ball for Bartholomew - in Tim’s honor, and it will also be for a fantastic cause.
With all monies collected benefiting the American Heart Association, the 5-on-5 tournament is set for Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8, at Makle Park on Fifth Street in Columbia.
Cost is $60 per team, plus $22 per team for officials.
And, of course, any and all donations, in Tim’s honor, to the American Heart Association.
There will be tournaments for male and female teams, so please check it out.

Nice touch, Crimson Tide faithful. Everywhere we go … People want to know …
