Cocalico’s Keller chooses Albright College

JEFFREY REINHART jreinhart@LNPnews.com

Kyle Keller, right, is off to Albright College // LNP photoAnother college signing to pass along for you …

Kyle Keller had quite the breakout senior season in Cocalico’s backfield last fall.

In his first season as a starter, the rugged fullback finished sixth in the Lancaster-Lebanon League rushing derby with 1,212 yards on 250 carries and he was a Second-Team Section 2 All-Star selection.

Keller parlayed that success into a budding college career, where he’ll continue dragging would-be tacklers next fall at Albright College in Reading.

Keller averaged 4.8 per rush and scored five touchdowns last fall for the Eagles, who made believers out of a lot of folks after finishing 5-2 in Section 2 and 7-4 overall, including a trip to the District 3 Triple-A playoffs. All that one year after going 2-8 and being picked to finished last in the Section 2 race.

Keller was part of the Eagles’ Kyle and Kyle Show, as he was joined by shifty junior halfback Kyle Fisher in Cocalico’s chew-you-up-and-spit-you-out Veer offense.

Fisher, another first-year starter, rushed for 1,203 yards and scored 20 touchdowns last fall, giving the Eagles an unbelievable 1-2 punch.

Fisher will return to Cocalico’s backfield later this fall. Keller will move on to the college ranks.
