Sorry I didn’t report this one a little earlier, but I’ve been up to my eyebrows in packing for vacation … plus, it flew under my radar for a few days.

Shawn Martin has stepped down after one season as Cocalico’s girls’ basketball coach.

Martin replaced Abbie Houck, who stepped down a year ago.

Under Martin, the Eagles went 6-17 overall and just 3-13 in Section 2 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League this past season.

Cocalico averaged 38.3 points a game and gave up 49.0 points a game.

The Eagles will flip-flop with Lebanon next season and go back down to Section 3 – and they’ll do it with a new coach.

Cocalico has the only coaching vacancy in the girls’ ranks. Cedar Crest is in the market for a new boys’ coach after Rick Dissinger stepped down last week.
