It was a bittersweet night Wednesday for Lebanon Catholic senior guard Samantha Carangelo.
The Beavers’ sharpshooter played in her final game for Lebanon Catholic, as the Beavers dropped a gut-wrenching 43-42 decision to Bishop Guilfoyle in a PIAA Single-A Eastern quarterfinal game at Big Spring High School in Newville.
But Carangelo, who battled a bout of mono earlier this season – and missed 10 games in the process – dropped in three 3-pointers, scored 13 points and she joined the 1,000-career-point club.
Carangelo finished her career with 1,002 points, and she became the 11th player in the history of Lebanon Catholic’s girls’ program to hit the century mark.
Congrats to Sam, who became the fifth L-L League player to hit 1,000-career points this season, joining Penn Manor’s Kelsey Caruthers, McCaskey’s Teasia Myers, Conestoga Valley’s Allison Bauer and Manheim Central’s Bekah Roland.
