MVP: Teasia Myers – The Tornado’s point guard didn’t have the most memorable senior season of all time, but when she was on, McCaskey was awesome. Myers missed six games at mid-season with a right ankle sprain, and the Tornado went 2-4 with her on the bench. In McCaskey’s final 10 regular-season games, with Myers back in the lineup, the Tornado went 7-3 (one of the losses was a non-league setback) and made some serious noise in the Section 1 race. McCaskey went on to reach the district fifth-place game (falling to L-L foe Hempfield), and made it back to States for the first time since 2006 – the same year the Tornado, behind Myers’ MVP effort, won the district title. In the 22 games she appeared in this season, Myers scored at least 10 points in 19 games, including that 28-point onslaught against Reading, which put her in the 1,000-career-point club. I know I’ll never forget her swan song: 20 points in McCaskey’s 58-41 loss to State College in the first round of States, after the team bus got stuck in traffic (and in a driving snow storm) and the Tornado showed up an hour late for the tip. Myers played splendidly, and left it all on the court in her final game. She ended up with 1,229 career points, and is currently exploring her college options. West Chester and Cal (Pa.) are interested. Unforgettable career for the Tornado, which went 86-21 with Myers on varsity.
