So how did the local teams fare Tuesday night in the District 3 girls’ basketball playoffs?
Some good. Some not so good.
SINGLE-A SEMIFINALS: I just flew back from Lower Dauphin High School in Hummelstown, and man, are my arms killing me. One winner, one loser here Tuesday: Reading Central Catholic knocked off Lancaster Country Day 47-41 in the opener, but Lebanon Catholic waxed Berks Christian 68-40 in the nightcap. Lebanon Catholic vs. Central Catholic for district gold Thursday in the Giant Center. Beavers have won 14 gold trophies. Wow.
QUAD-A SEMIFINALS: Section 1 champ Cedar Crest fell to CD East 49-39 and was relegated to the third-place game.
TRIPLE-A CONSOLATION ROUND: Wow, this Triple-A bracket is screwy. You know the teams that lost tonight actually play again in the seventh-place game? Seventh place? Ugh. Anyway, Lancaster Catholic earned a spot in the fifth-place game (and a spot in States) with a 60-38 win over Delone Catholic. Up next for Catholic is Palmyra in the Crusaders’ fifth district game. Yeah, fifth. Remember, Catholic had to win a pigtail game just to get in.
Check back later for tons more coverage of Tuesday’s proceedings.
