Manheim Central’s Bekah Roland finished her fine career with 1,006 points // LNP photoBarons’ steady senior joins 1,000-career-point club. But Central falls in first round of Districts and is sent packing for the season.

It wasn’t the way Bekah Roland was hoping to join the club.

Nevertheless, she’s in.

Needing 17 points for 1,000 in her career, Manheim Central’s senior forward pumped in 23 points Thursday night, giving her 1,006 in her career.

But that effort came in the Barons’ 71-52 loss to Northeastern in the first round of the District 3 Triple-A playoffs at Northern York High School in Dillsburg.

The loss abruptly ended Central’s season – and Roland’s career.

So she’ll finish with those 1,006 points – fourth-most in the history of the Barons’ girls’ basketball program.

Roland finished this season averaging 16.1 points a game, and she was the fourth L-L League player to join the 1,000-career-point club this season, joining McCaskey’s Teasia Myers, Penn Manor’s Kelsey Caruthers and Conestoga Valley’s Allison Bauer.

Congrats to Bekah.

Couldn't happen to a nicer girl. Bekah you ROCK. cheer1.gif cheer2.gif

Outstanding on the courts and in her community, raising over $10,000.00 for COBYS w/ her graduation project. Can't wait to see what you do next!

She attends a sister church, plus I've rubbed shoulders with her mom and grandmother over the years, when our churches have done things together.

For her grad project she invited Ken Medema, who many of us got to know at the Church of the Brethren Nat'l Youth Conference in '06. He is an amazing artist. It was a big undertaking on her part to get everything to fall together. Plus her desire to direct the proceeds to the underpriviledged through the COBYS organization is commendable.
