PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lancaster Mennonite’s Katelyn Vanderhoff // LNP photoKatelyn Vanderhoff, Lancaster Mennonite: The Blazers’ junior shooting guard stepped up in all three of Mennonite’s L-L League crossover games last week. She scored 15 points on Monday in a 56-34 win against Lebanon Catholic; she scored 13 points on Wednesday in a 52-27 win against Elco; and she scored 15 points on Friday in a 59-16 win over Northern Lebanon, as the Blazers improved to 9-1 in league games and 15-2 overall, and enter the week in a virtual tie for first place in Section 4 with Lancaster Catholic. Vanderhoff is averaging a team-best 10.8 points a game and has 725 career points.

THIS WEEK’S TOP GAMES

TUESDAY
Section 3-4
Lancaster Mennonite (15-2, 9-1) at Manheim Central (14-3, 8-2)
Plenty of intrigue in this one: Mennonite leads Lancaster Catholic by percentage points in the Section 4 chase, and Central is tied with L-S for the Section 3 lead, and the Barons head to L-S on Friday. Keep an eye on: Mennonite senior G Dani Zeamer, a Central transfer who will be back in her old stomping grounds.

FRIDAY
Section 4
Manheim Central (14-3, 8-2) at L-S (15-2, 8-2)
Pending Tuesday’s outcomes – the Pioneers host Columbia – this game could be for sole possession of first place. Central won Round 1 52-49 on Dec. 19 in Manheim, handing the Pioneers their first loss this season. Keep an eye on: Central senior F Bekah Roland, who is averaging 17.9 points in her last seven games.
