COLUMBIA’S BRIAN GROFF, PEQUEA VALLEY’S SEAN PERSCH, LANCASTER CATHOLIC’S KYLE SMITH, LEBANON’S JORDAN CLENTIMACK, LAMPETER-STRASBURG’S ANTHONY CINTRON and JUSTIN TAYLOR, MANHEIM TOWNSHIP’S DAVID SOLDNER and ROBERT DE LA ROSA ARE HONORED.

A tip of the cap and a big congratulations to the eight (8) Lancaster-Lebanon League football players who earned Associated Press All-State honors. Two players were named First-Team and six players were named Second-Team.

If you’ve missed the paper the last couple of days, here are the L-L League players who were honored:

QUAD-A

FIRST-TEAM - David Soldner, senior kicker, Manheim Township — Soldner made the First-Team for the second year in a row after booting 20 field goals this season. According to Maxpreps.com, that was the most field goals by any prep player in the country. Solder is also a reigning USA Today All-American, and just a hunch, but he’ll repeat that honor, as well.

SECOND-TEAM - Robert De La Rosa, senior defensive lineman, Manheim Township — Wow, two Blue Streaks’ made All-State. That’s an awesome honor. De La Rosa had a dominating season for Township, with 8 sacks during the regular season. He was a tackle machine, and blew up many backfields.

TRIPLE-A

FIRST-TEAM - Anthony Cintron, senior defensive end, L-S — What an incredible season for Cintron, a blitz-happy defensive end who had 19 sacks and 19 QB hurries while helping the Pioneers win the District 3 Triple-A championship. Speed rusher extraordinare.

SECOND-TEAM - Justin Taylor, senior running back, L-S — The Lancaster Newspapers Player of the Year did it all for the Pioneers, leading the team in rushing and receptions, while scoring a school-record 28 touchdowns.

SECOND-TEAM - Jordan Clentimack, junior wideout, Lebanon — Breakout season for the Cedars’ go-to receiver with 60 catches (third-most in the L-L League) for 885 yards and 11 touchdowns in Lebanon’s spread Air Raid attack.

DOUBLE-A

SECOND-TEAM - Brian Groff, senior offensive lineman, Columbia — The 6-4, 260-pounder anchored an offensive line that helped pave the way for the league’s top-ranked offensive attack. The Crimson Tide was the only team in the league that averaged more than 400 yards a game, and featured the league’s leading rusher, Ben Guiles.

SECOND-TEAM - Kyle Smith, sophomore quarterback, Lancaster Catholic — What a rookie season for Smith, who led the league in completions (155), passing yards (2,595) and TD passes (27).

SECOND-TEAM - Sean Persch, junior wideout, Pequea Valley — The Braves’ Mr. Versatility did it all, leading the league with 71 catches for 1,029 yards, and he also had more than 2,400 all-purpose yards this season.
