5:19 — Greetings from snowy Hersheypark Stadium.
And yes, when I entered the side gate and took a look inside the stadium, the first thing that came to mind was 2003: Manheim Central vs. Pine-Richland.
As I sit here high about the 40-yard line, a grounds crew of about five guys are cleaning off the field — some on carts with plows, other with snowblowers. Is snowblower one word or two?
First person out: L-S coach John Manion and one of his trusty assistants (Bill Geesey), hands in pockets, standing on the 20 taking it all in.
Garnet Valley bus just pulled in. Maroon and white bus with paw prints on the side. They’re the Jaguars, remember. Sweet ride.
1:17 to go in the half. GV punting.
Hot dogs are cooking and the hot chocolate is brewing. Think I’ll get cozy.
Stay tuned for more riveting commentary from the press box …
5:29 — First kids out are L-S QB Brett Graeff and L-S WR Abe Mellinger to play catch.
Oooooh, L-S in all blue uniforms tonight. Haven’t seen these in a while. Pioneers are the home team (District 3 is the host). L-S was the visiting team here the last 2 weeks and had on the all white uniforms. L-S is in the home locker room this week, and is decked out in blue from head to toe.
Looks cold down there. Players are bundled up with long shirts and high socks. And yes, those snow plows are still zipping along moving snow.
5:50 — Entire L-S team is out now warming up, and a few Garnet Valley kids are on the field. Field is finally clean, by the way. Looks really good.
I don’t have a Heisman Trophy vote, but if I did, it would go to Hawaii QB Colt Brennan. He has ridiculous numbers and he led his team to a 12-0 record. Florida’s Tim Tebow will win it. Good stats, yes. But most of those rushing TDs were like 2-yard plunges. Ooooh.
5:54 — L-S QB Brett Graeff is leaving the field with a couple of coaches. Hmmm.
6:18 — Just took a stroll down to the field. There are some slick spots, but the A-Turf is in great shape. Should be basically a fast track. And I noticed this: Garnet Valley is huge - in numbers. This is a very, very big Triple-A team. Their roster takes up two pages in the media packet.
P.S. Graeff is back up out of the locker room, and he told me on the way to the field that, “I’m fine.” And he smiled. So that’s a good thing for the Pioneers.
Press box is filling up.

L-S fake punt! Taylor fakes the punt and goes 26 yards for a 1st down. L-S driving. 10 minutes to go.
20-20 — 3rd-and-goal from the 22 … Graeff screen to Zimmerman, who rolls 22 yards for a TD. Taylor PAT good. Tie game. Wow.
L-S 5th turnover — mix up on snap. GV ball. 2:01 to play. 20-20.
27-20 Garnet Valley — Keyser 74-yard pass from Van Wyk. He took off after a short slant pass. Shocker City.
L-S ball 1:19 to play. Own 20.

Graeff sacked for 8-yard loss on 2nd down. 3rd and long. 1:02 to play.
