I’ve been sitting on this for a few weeks, but I didn’t want to spoil the surprise because this wasn’t announced publicly until Wednesday evening.
Warwick senior QB Jon Resch, Ephrata senior QB/DB Blake Crowther and Lampeter-Strasburg senior RB/DB Justin Taylor were honored as the top players in each L-L League section with the Frantz/Rider/Yohe award, in conjunction with local Lions Clubs.
Resch in Section 1; Crowther in Section 2; Taylor in Section 3.
Resch, Crowther and Taylor were honored in a ceremony on Wednesday in Lititz.
The awards are named after former Elizabethtown coach Bill Frantz, former Warwick coach Bernie Rider, and former Columbia and Hempfield coach Jack Yohe.
Resch was the top-ranked passer in Section 1 this season, leading Warwick to a 9-1 record in the regular season and into the District 3 Quad-A playoffs for the second season in a row.
Crowther won the Section 2 rushing title with 1,159 yards and he scored 18 touchdowns for the Mountaineers.
And Taylor continues to shine for L-S, which is set to take on Garnet Valley in the PIAA Triple-A Eastern Final on Friday night in Hersheypark Stadium.
Taylor is averaging more than 12 yards a carry and has scored a school-record 28 touchdowns.
Congrats to Jon, Blake and Justin.
