Six Lancaster-Lebanon League girls’ volleyball players have earned Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association All-District 3 honors.
Five players, who all helped their teams advance in the postseason, were named to the First-Team.
One player was named to the Third-Team.
Leading the way on the First-Team were a pair of players from L-L League champ Hempfield and a pair of players from PIAA Triple-A runner-up Garden Spot.
Hempfield seniors Kaylee Dougherty, a 5-10 middle hitter and University of Colgate recruit, and 5-5 setter McElla Pappas earned First-Team honors.
Dougherty and Pappas helped Hempfield win the Section 1 championship and advance to the District 3 Triple-A title match, where the Black Knights fell to Susquehannock before being eliminated by eventual state champ Allentown Central Catholic in the first round of the state tournament.
Garden Spot, meanwhile, had a pair of First-Team picks, including senior Maria Horning, a 5-7 setter, and junior Ashley Schnader, a 5-11 middle hitter.
Horning and Schnader helped the Spartans win the Section 2 championship and advance to the league finale, where Garden Spot fell to Hempfield before reaching the District 3 Triple-A semifinals and eventually the PIAA Triple-A finale, where the Spartans fell to Allentown Central Catholic.
Cocalico senior Courtney Reinhold, a 5-8 middle hitter, was also named to the First-Team, after she helped lead the Eagles to a second-place finish in Section 2 and into the league semifinals for the first time.
Cocalico also advanced to the district tournament.
Truely Kibler, Penn Manor’s 5-8 junior outside hitter, was named to the Third-Team, after she helped the Comets finish second in Section 1 and reach the league tournament, before making a spirited run into the District 3 Triple-A tournament.
