Three Lancaster County cross country runners have been rewarded handsomely for their fine seasons this fall.
Conestoga Valley senior Vince McNally, Penn Manor senior Megan Ecker and Garden Spot freshman Emily Martin have been named to the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association All-State team.
McNally, a Penn State recruit, earned First-Team honors.
Ecker and Martin earned Second-Team honors.
McNally won a pair of championships this season, claiming his second L-L League title in a row in a record time of 15:02. He also won his second District 3 Triple-A championship in a row, clocking in at 16:38.
But McNally came up short in his bid for his first PIAA title, finishing 18th in 16:30 after suffering from flu-like symptoms on the day of the state final.
He will run in the Northeast Regional championship on Nov. 24 in New York. The top 15 finishers there will advance to the National Championships later this year in San Diego.
Ecker had three top-10 finishes this season: She was runner-up in the L-L League Meet (18:45), she finished sixth in the District 3 Triple-A race (20:15), and she earned a medal in the state meet, finishing 10th (19:11).
Martin had a breakout freshman season for Garden Spot, winning the L-L League title (18:37), finishing third in the District 3 Triple-A race (20:01), and taking sixth in the PIAA Meet (19:02).
