PIAA FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

WHEN: In Triple-A and Double-A, first-round games are set for Tuesday, with the quarterfinal round on tap for Saturday.

The state semifinals are Tuesday, Nov. 13, with the PIAA finals set for Saturday, Nov. 17 at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown.

L-L LEAGUE ENTRANTS: Penn Manor (23-3 overall) and Warwick (18-4) in Triple-A and Lancaster Mennonite (23-4) in Double-A.

MATCHUPS: Penn Manor, which fell to undefeated Lower Dauphin in the District 3 Triple-A title game last Saturday, is set to take on District 1 third-place finisher Perkiomen Valley on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Hempfield. … Warwick, which topped league foe Conestoga Valley for the fifth and final state bid from District 3, will take on District 7 champ North Allegheny on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Penn State University. … Mennonite, which fell to Palmyra in the District 3 Double-A title game last Saturday, is set to take on District 4 runner-up Mifflinburg on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Hempfield.

NOTABLE: Mennonite topped Penn Manor in the L-L League championship game. … Penn Manor fell to eventual state-champ Lower Dauphin 2-1 in the PIAA quarterfinals last fall. Lower Dauphin — 22-0 this season, and riding a 52-game winning streak — topped Mt. Saint Joseph 2-1 in last year’s Triple-A title game. Mt. Saint Joseph knocked out Warwick 3-2 in the state semifinals. … Mennonite was tripped up by Selinsgrove 5-0 in a first-round PIAA game last year. … Warwick won state championship in 1987, 1999 and 2000. … Wyoming Seminary edged Upper Perkiomen 1-0 in last year’s Double-A title game.
