THE SERIES: This is the 70th meeting between MU and Bloom, in a series that dates back to 1916. … Bloom leads the series 34-30-5, including a 20-11-4 record at Bloom. … Huskies have won the last seven games in a row – the longest streak in the series. … And it’s Homecoming weekend at Bloom.

ABOUT MILLERSVILLE: Marauders dropped a 23-14 decision at home to PSAC West foe Shippensburg. … QB Jamal Smith went 10-for-30 for 74 and was picked in the loss. But he did rush for 99 yards on 22 keepers and had a 3-yard TD run. … Brad Lantz, who rushed for 64 yards on 13 carries against Shipp, leads the team with 482 rushing yards. … DB Brandon Shelton had 10 tackles (1 for loss) last Saturday. He’s second on the team with 45 total stops and has two picks. … Shelton also averages 19 yards on kick returns. … DBs Marcus Banks and Julius Carter had eight tackles each against Shipp. … Smith is 39-of-106 for 483 yards and 3 TD.

ABOUT BLOOMSBURG: QB Dan Latorre leads the PSAC in passing efficiency with a 166.7 rating. The former Southern Columbia star has passed for 1,269 yards and 8 TD. … Latorre’s favorite receiver is Brahin Bilal (34-691, 20.3 per grab, 5 TD). … RB Jamar Brittingham, who rushed for 207 yards and three touchdowns two weeks ago against Kutztown, has rushed for 708 yards on 136 carries and has scored 15 TD. … Brittingham is having quite a career. Check these numbers out: He holds school records for TD in a season (34), rushing TD in a season (32), career rushing TD (75), rushing yards in a season (2,260), points in a season (204), career points (468, and counting). He’s rushed for 4,962 yards, and he needs 73 yards to pass Irv Sigler (5,034) as the school’s all-time leader. And he needs 686 yards to pass Cal’s Wesley Cates as the PSAC career leader (5,647). … Huskies are third in the PSAC in total offense, averaging 437 yards a game. Bloom has 1,303 rushing yards and 1,319 passing yards.

L-L LEAGUE CONNECTION: Eight former L-L League standouts grace Bloom’s roster - Manheim Township’s Andre Ellis (6-0, 212, Jr. DB), Cocalico’s Steve Sweigart (6-2, 290, Jr. OL), Wilson’s James Miller (6-2, 250, Fr. OL), Manheim Central’s Marcus Zimmerman (5-11, 255, Fr. DL), Manheim Central’s Luke Nagy (6-4, 192, Fr. WR), Cedar Crest’s Brad Reesman (6-1, 176, Fr. WR), Cedar Crest’s Ben Weaber (6-2, 257, Fr. TE) and Cedar Crest’s Brandon Groff (6-1, 226, So. DL).

THE PICK: The loss to Shippensburg last Saturday was a real head-scratcher. I pegged MU for a win there, especially with the home cooking. But life goes on … Tough trip to Bloom on tap for the Marauders. Huskies are coming off a bye week, so they’re rested. They also have Brittingham, who is a special, special player. And he can break the program’s career rushing record, and that’s exciting. And it’s Homecoming in Bloom, so the Huskies should have a nice home crowd. MU would love to spring an upset, but Bloom has too much balance – not to mention the top-ranked passer in the conference and Brittingham, who is handful. Bloomsburg 34, Millersville 16.
