ABOUT CHELTENHAM: The Panthers, who are coached by 26-year veteran Bob Schaefer, started the season 1-3 with losses to District 2 champ Nanticoke (which is 28-0 in Triple-A), Hazleton and a double-OT crusher to District 1 champ Upper Dublin (which is 31-1 in Quad-A). Other losses are to Notre Dame of Ohio in a Christmas Tournament, Germantown Academy and again to Upper Dublin in the District 1 quarterfinals. … Lost in the state final to Oakland Catholic in 2005. … Trailed Harrisburg by as many as 10 points in the first half before rallying to win by 12 in the second round. QUOTABLE: Hempfield coach Lenny Groft – “At this point, we’re defending well and we’re scoring a few more points, so anything is possible. But this is going to be extremely tough because Cheltenham is athletic and they have a lot of talent. The most important thing is that our kids go out and play as hard as they can and as smart as the can to leave everything out there. We have nothing to lose.”
