1,000 career points … and help me! Seriously (updated 2-9-07!)

Lebanon senior guard Megan Strohman (left) did it first, eclipsing the one-grand mark on Jan. 30 against Northern Lebanon. Heading into tonight’s game at Manheim Central, Strohman has 1,014 points.

And Cedar Crest senior guard Allison Smith (above right) joined the club on Monday night against Warwick. She is sitting on 1,000 points on the dot after hitting a foul shot with 2:50 to go in the fourth quarter.

“It was a personal goal because I didn’t play varsity my freshman year,” Smith told me after the game. “So to do this in three years is a nice achievement … definitely.”

It was also a very classy moment when Warwick’s entire team, including players and the coaching staff, shook hands with Smith after she was deluged with flowers and hugs (and a basketball) from her parents and teammates.

OK, now here’s where you come in …

In my never-ending pursuit to track down every 1,000-career-point scorer in the history of the L-L girls’ league, I’m going to post what I need to (hopefully) complete my list.

Hey, I’m a stickler, what can I tell you?

I’m hoping someone (anyone) out there, might recognize a name or might have some stats laying around for, you know, some odd reason.

Or perhaps there is a plaque or a banner somewhere in the school where I’m missing some numbers. A lot of times schools will have a plaque with a player’s career numbers, but since I can’t always check every trophy case at every school, well …

I don’t need as much as I thought, but if anyone out there can help me with any of these question marks, I’d appreciate it.

Here goes:

ANNVILLVE-CLEONA: I need career points for Christine Ditzler, Paula Light, Michelle Kulbitsky, Sue Kreider and Caroline Bell.

CEDAR CREST: I need career points for Aubrie Dellinger.

ELIZABETHTOWN: I need career points for Sue Grubb.

LAMPETER-STRASBURG: I need career points for Mary Howell and Amy Kopf.

LANCASTER MENNONITE: I need career points for Nellie Sharp and Missy Hostetter.

LEBANON: I need career points for Andrea Padelsky and Hannah Phillips.

MANHEIM TOWNSHIP: I need names and career points, period. I have nothing on the Blue Streaks. Zip. I did hear through the grapevine that Anita Plakans scored 1,000 points, and maybe another girl, but I couldn’t find anything, anywhere. Any help with Township? Anyone? Bueller? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act. Anyone?

McCASKEY: I need career points for Barbara Barr, Patty Longenecker, Tasha Wright and Jodi Brooks.

PENN MANOR: I need career points for Carol Flinchbaugh.

Wow – there are definitely some great names in there, eh?

Now can any of you help me track down any of their career numbers?

Ask your friends. Ask your coaches. Ask your athletic directors.

Again, I appreciate your help.

Please e-mail me (jreinhart@LNPnews.com) if you stumble across anything.
