Ever try to fit the ocean in a cup?
New Christian artist Josh Wilson sure has, with his 2008 debut, “Trying to Fit the Ocean in a Cup,” winning high praise from one major Christian music Web site.
GospelMusicChannel.com named Wilson’s first release as one of the winners in its list of Top-10 albums for 2008. (Yes, it’s starting to be that time again)
GospelMusicChannel.com honored “Trying to Fit the Ocean in a Cup” as winner in the pop genre category.
Wilson’s best-known single is the catchy, emotive “Savior Please,” which is now moving up Christian-music charts and is pointing lots of deserved attention to the Lubbock, Texas, native.
Wilson’s overall debut CD won out over other top finishers of 2008, including Brandon Heath’s much-praised “What If We.”
GospelMusicChannel.com also named Decemberadio’s “Satisfied” as top rock album of the year.
The list, determined by the senior music editors and staff at GospelMusicChannel.com along with input from the network, can be viewed in its entirety at www.gospelmusicchannel.com/topten/albums2008.
Of Wilson’s CD, a top official from GospelMusicChannel.com said that “every once in awhile, a pop record comes along that really transcends what traditionally defines the genre … with an upbeat sound that’s listenable but sophisticated, it’s one that makes you say, ‘Oh! I want to hear more!’”
Wilson also is releasing his first Christmas project, at iTunes and other digital music outlets. “Sing: A Christmas EP,” contains three songs, including an original track, “Sing,” and the classic hymns “Angels We Have Heard On High” and an instrumentral version of “The First Noel.”
