Pillar and the Phillies (and the Dodgers, etc.) go together

Phillies’ fans or anyone else watching the baseball playoffs right now has a good chance of hearing the sounds of a popular Chrisitan hard-rock band.
Pillar, the Meticalla-ish outfit that is growing in popularity with the young and (like me) the just young at heart,  is seeing its “For the Love of the Game” music video being used to showcase some of baseball’s biggest and best highlights.
As the band’s fans know, “For the Love of the Game” is the title track to Pillar’s newest studio release, its fifth album.
The fact that Pillar’s hard-rocking, anthemic music has been chosen is not surprising to any of us who saw and heard the band on a hot afternoon at Creation last summer.
And Pillar’s sound has been used before as a soundtrack in the sports world.
During its career, its music has played on numerous ESPN sports programs, including SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight and College Gameday, as well as CBS and FOX Sports.
After all, networks, looking for music to go with sports, can only play “Crazy Train” so many times.
Since Pillar’s 2001 Dove Award-winning debut “Above,” the band has garnered nine No. 1 radio singles, 13 top five hits, a Grammy nomination, three Dove Awards, nine national headlining tours and overall music sales nearing one million.
Think of all those people watching on TBS these days getting exposed to Pillar’s music.
