Chris Sligh calls his massive, kickoff hit “Empty Me” a “special song … and I always knew that the video for the song would need to be something special, too.”
A special song it is, making the top 10 in Christian music lists, showcasing both his powerful vocals and earnest, spirit-filled songwriting skills.
And to make the video as special, the former “American Idol” finalist and emerging music artist wants your help.
He wants his fans to have some fun and help him create a video by lip-syncing to the song.
(Even if you’re just a shower singer, can’t you just see and hear yourself emoting along with “Emp-ty me … / of the foolishness inside / empty me / of the poison of my pride” ?)
Sligh, who’s wrapping up his nationwide “Back to School” tour this week, is welcoming video submissions through Friday, Oct. 24.
If you’re interested, you can email the file to EmptyMeVideo@gmail.com, or post it to www.yousendit.com and send that link to EmptyMeVideo@gmail.com.
Sligh says his song “is a simple prayer that we should be praying whether you’re a dog walker, a cheerleader, the president of the United States or some chubby guy that was on “American Idol” (dissing on himself), to be emptied of ourselves so we can be filled with Christ.
“So, I want dogwalkers, cheerleaders and maybe even the president, or maybe a candidate for president, to video themselves doing cool stuff lip-syncing to my song!”
No word yet on whether the two presidential candidates are planning to lip-sync.
Fans are being encouraged to record in “non-traditional situations,” like in an elevator, in line at an amusement park, at a football game or at some well-known tourist attraction.
We sure have all of that in Lancaster County!
Full guidelines for submission are available now at www.myspace.com/chrissligh, www.brashmusic.com, and/or Sligh’s blog, www.frommymindtoyoureyes.blogspot.com.
