“Don’t you ever get tired of the news?” my fiance, Alison, asked me last night.
Of course I do. Spend too much time in the echo chamber and the reverberations start to shake your head. That’s partly why I spend more time than I should with my ears attached to my iPod via headphones. And why from time to time at the Nest, we talk about something other than politics, particularly as we head into Friday.
This week everyone’s gaga about U2’s new album, but in the midst of the hype, I want to point you in the direction of Neko Case, whose voice is like a warm heartland night during summer and songwriting prowess is enigmatic and magnetic. She’s alt. country’s finest siren, and I can’t stop listening to her “Middle Cyclone” album, which she released Tuesday.
The first single is “People Have a Lot of Nerve”, which you will find below.
My favorite Neko Case song remains “Hold On Hold On.”
Spring-like weather slipping into the area starting Friday. About a month before baseball’s opening day. Realizing I have the option to turn off the talking head babbling about Rush and turn on the 6,000 Mp3s I have on my iPod. I love ‘em all.
Have a great weekend!
