EVENING COFFEE: Panic! Maybe not.

February 26th, 2009 6:50 pm · 0 comments

Newsroom brew in my Elizabethtown College alumni cup tonight. “Something in the Ayers Tonight” commemorative T-shirt and hat sold separately.

Can’t stay long here for Evening Coffee because there’s a lot of work to do. I just got off the phone with Bill Ayers … yes, the education professor from Chicago; yes, the former Weather Underground leader during the Vietnam era; yes, the one who’s coming to Millersville University next month to talk about urban education. As you can imagine, the Nest is furiously working on a news article for tomorrow about our discussions regarding urban education, his appearance at Millersville on March 19 and the Republican response to his upcoming presentation.

Millersville has been heard at the Nest today too. Janet Kacskos, a university spokeswoman, wanted it to be known that despite what published reports have said, the university did not request an anti-terrorism unit to provide security for the Ayers event. The unit - The South Central Pennsylvania Counter Terrorism Task Force - contacted the university about the event and would like to use it as a possible “training exercise,” Kacskos said. Attempts to contact the task force for comment has thus far failed.

 More later. Gotta work.
