Tomorrow’s print edition will have a story about whether or not West Lampeter Township, which hasn’t seen a legal alcohol drink sold within its borders since Prohibition, should reverse course. Patrick Burns, the Intell’s biz reporter, has the story.
And who’s driving the beer truck to overturn West Lampeter’s alcohol sales ban? Why, Willow Valley, duh. You owe me a lager for that one.
You shouldn’t act so surprised. Willow Valley after all ordered up a change in policy less than a year ago to begin allowing alcohol at wedding receptions and other events. The drinks must be served, not sold (BIG difference in the eyes of the law). So now, the more than 40-year-old resort is pushing to expand its facility with a sparkling new $7 million Double Tree Hotel, but inorder to secure the Double Tree franchise (a Hilton subsidiary), Willow Valley has secure a liquor license. Double Tree likes to have a bar in the hotel. And that’s a no-no right now in West Lampeter.
I’ll let you check out Burns’ story in tomorrow’s Intell (can you say “Political Action Committee?! Yippeee!”) for the rest of the news on West Lampeter and Willow Valley. But why wait for the May primary? Let’s put it to a vote now:
Should West Lampeter Township lift its ban on alcohol sales?
