COLUMN PREVIEW: For Oct. 13, 2008

October 12th, 2008 11:36 pm · 3 comments

If Barack Obama wins, c’mon, you can’t be serious when you say Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell is going to finish out his second term. I mean, why? No one doubts his devotion and dedication to the Commonwealth, but in this week’s column we consider why staying in the Governor’s Mansion would be folly compared to a Cabinet position in a possible Obama administration.

Plus a final breakdown of the state and countywide registration numbers prior to the election, and as always the Quotes of the Week.

See yah in Horsham tomorrow for Hillary Clinton’s rally for Obama. Live coverage (if the campaign provides WiFI) begins here at the Nest at noon. So grab your lunch, open your laptop and enjoy the irony of Hillary leading a rally for Obama in Pennsylvania.

Wanna make a little side wager, Dave? Rendell was Hillary's LOUDEST and MAIN supporter. Sure, he has campaigned now for Obama, but Obama proved his pettiness and his LONG MEMORY when he not only snubbed Hillary for the VP slot, but didn't give her the courtesy of advance notice (which he gave everyone else on his list!), and when he chose
3 am as the time for the text message announcement.

Rendell will experience the same very public snub if Obama is elected. I'll bet you lunch at Annie Bailey's he will be our teflon, double-talking, broken-promises Governor for the rest of his term.

With the exception of Sen. Bob Casey Jr., there hasn't been a harder working Pennsylvania surrogate for Obama than Rendell.

Agreed.

There also has not been a more vocal, whole-hearted supporter of Hillary Clinton. This is not about Rendell's support of all things Democratic. This is about the level of spite of Barack Obama -- all with a smile on his face and a measured, heart-to-heart tone to his voice.

I'm bettin' a lunch on it ...
