Clinton coming to the Keystone

Hillary Clinton’s going to have a Homecoming starting Sunday. She and spouse, former President Bill Clinton, will rally with veep nominee Joe Biden in Scranton on Sunday, then for some events in the Philadelphia area Monday. Details are forthcoming.

‘Bout time.

Update: If this isn’t a clear sign of just how important Pennsylvania is to both candidates and the role the blue-collar vote is going to play in the Nov. 4 outcome, I don’t know what else does.

Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin are rallying in Bethlehem tomorrow right after tonight’s debate. Then Clinton, whom those blue-collar voters supported during the April 22 primary against Democrat Barack Obama, makes her first post-primary appearance in Scranton and then Philadelphia. It’s a play to counter McCain’s move tomorrow and to keep Obama’s lead at about 10 points in the current voter polls.

As a veteran of the primary campaign, I expect a surreal nature to seeing Clinton espouse the virtues of an Obama presidency while stumping in Pennsylvania. Just the imagery of Clinton beneath an Obama banner is enough to make one’s head spin.
