PRESS PASS: Who counted 15,000?

I saw on at least two Talkback forums some questions raised about the estimated crowd size during yesterday’s Barack Obama rally in Buchanan Park. The article in today’s Intelligencer Journal reported 15,000 people came out to see and hear the Democratic presidential nominee, and that number didn’t sit well with a few participants on the forum.

The 15,000 figure came from Lancaster City Police, who estimated 10,000 inside the fencing and another 5,000 outside the fencing, and Lancaster City Fire who estimated 12,000 inside the fencing and 3,000 outside. The figures were officially confirmed by Mayor Rick Gray.
