Here come the heavy hitters

Well, this CNN story answers at least one of the questions I posed in a previous post:
The Obama campaign is planning to send out some high-profile female supporters, including Hillary Rodham Clinton, to blunt Sarah Palin’s potential to draw women’s support to the Republican ticket.
Besides Clinton, Governors Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas are also scheduled to campaign for Obama in the coming weeks.
Obama’s chief strategist says the campaign respects John McCain’s V.P. pick. David Axelrod calls Palin “a skilled politician” who’s “deft at going on the attack.”
Sebelius got things started yesterday, saying of Palin’s acceptance speech that she had “mastered the words written by the Bush speechwriters” but didn’t address the issues voters speak about every day.
Clinton is set to arrive Monday in Florida.
Will Clinton be just as forceful in rebutting Palin as she was McCain during the Democratic National Convention?

Rebutting what exactly? The statement about hockey moms?
You mean attacking Palin, not rebutting Palin. |
BigKahuna 9/5/08 8:09 PM | Thats politics. As I said in another post, the McCain campaign spent alot of time pizzing and moaning about the light being only on Obama. Now its on them. Isn't that what they wanted? Old saying: Be careful what you wish for.
They apparently wanted a surprise and they accomplished it. Now they need to accept the consequences of that surprise. Palin should get no special treatment. If she wants to run for V.P. then she gets thrown to the wolves just like everybody else. If they scream sexism and run to her aid after every question or challenge, then in my opinion McCain and his campaign were just window dressing and should be publicly flogged for it. (not literally flogged)
Here's a question I want someone to ask her. This is specifically geared toward health care in America. Palin is always now introduced as a mother of 5 with a special needs/Downs Syndrome child. Great! Lots of us have children and there are very many with special needs Children. As a parent of a Downs Syndrome child, Palin is well aware of the health issues from birth that afflict these children. I am positive that as Governer she had health care insurance and if she proceeds to the vice presidency she will have health care insurance. What are her and McCain's plans for ensuring that Americans have proper health care? And specifically answer to people with Downs Syndrome children who can not afford proper health care insurance now and are not afforded it through their employers. |
