State Rep. Bryan Cutler, a Peach Bottom Republican, finished in the Top 100 of his age division at the Timberman Half Ironman competition in New Hampshire yesterday. Cutler chatted Monday with the next as he rested in the passenger seat of the family vehicle during the long drive home.
“I did okay,” he said. “I beat my goal.”
Cutler wanted to finish the competition - a 1.2-mile swim followed by a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run - in less than 6 hours. Cutler’s time was 5:53:44, good enough for 98th in the 30-34 mens division, or about the middle of the pack. The fastest time in his division came from a Massachussetts man who completed the course in 4:25:47.
Here’s Cutlers line:
Swim: 46:02
Bike: 2:53:04
Run: 2:04:57
Cutler said you can expect to see him competing in Ironman competitions in the future. “I didn’t feel nearly as bad as I thought I would. It certainly hurt, but it didn’t hurt so bad to prevent me from doing another one.”
