CapitolWire.com’s Pete DeCoursey has a column published in today’s Intelligencer Journal on A10 slamming elected officials and statewide candidates for “ducking” questions on whether Democratic House Leader Bill DeWeese should resign. DeWeese was in the top Democratic House post when the alleged Bonusgate transgressions took place.
Writes DeCoursey:
The hundreds of felony counts, it is true, did not charge DeWeese with anything, but all occurred while he was elected by his caucus to lead it and were allegedly committed by folks wielding the power DeWeese personally gave them.
One of the candidates DeCoursey takes a swipe at is Chet Beiler, the Lancaster County Republican running for state auditor general against incumbent Democrat Jack Wagner. Writes DeCoursey:
Beiler said DeWeese should “probably” go. When I asked him why only “probably,” why he was “hedging,” he responded that DeWeese hadn’t been charged yet.
Then Beiler had the gall to demand that Wagner state his position on DeWeese and to ask why he had not?
Well, Mr. Beiler, until you can make up your mind that DeWeese should not lead the House Democrats, you’re n no position to lecture Wagner.
