Well, the Nest is leaving the Lancaster tree and headed to the homeland, Cincinnati that is. It’s my annual BB&B trip - Baseball, Beer and Buffett (not necessarily in that order). On the itinerary:
-
Making my seventh Jimmy Buffett concert in nine years. Tailgating begins at 9 a.m. Once you go to one Buffett show, concerts and parking lot parties will never ever be the same. Great story in the Cincinnati Enquirer about how the whole Parrothead phenomenon started and how Cincinnati helped save the troubadour’s career. Any other Parrotheads out there?
-

- Catching my beloved but underwhelming Cincinnati Reds (can Johnny Bench, Eric Davis and Barry Larkin puhleese come back to play). Should you ever make it to the Queen City, check out the Reds Hall of Fame. No doubt the finest team hall of fame in baseball.
-

- Downing a liter or three of Hofbrauhaus brew while watching the Ohio River drift by downtown. Try the pretzels and beer cheese or the sauerkraut balls. Trust me, friends.
- Drowning myself in Cincinnati chili (you have to be from there to understand). Chili with no beans, nutmeg, cinnamon, chocolate and topped with shredded cheddar. OMG it’s like soooo good!!!
- Seeing the parents, the brother and the sister.
A tradition of every summer not to be missed. I’ll be back … Come Monday.
