Here come the savings

The state Department of Education released Thursday just how much each homestead will save in 2008-09 on property taxes due to gambling receipts. The Intell’s education reporter Brian Wallace is adding up the figures and working on an article, and for our county the school district with the highest “estimated” savings is the School District of Lancaster at $458 for every eligible property. Remember, you had to apply for the tax relief, and if you didn’t, you won’t receive any property tax relief this year. The lowest savings are for properties in Eastern Lancaster County School District, which will see an estimated $66 in relief. Every other Lancaster school district is somewhere in between at an average of about $150 per household and can be viewed here.
