Wine in grocery stores

I can hear a lot of people saying, “Finally!” I also can hear groaning about how this would make alcohol more acceptable and this may lead to underage drinking and so on and so on.
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is seeking applicants to carry one of 100 statewide kiosks that would distribute wine in places like grocery stores.
From the Associated Press:
The kiosks, a sort of a temperature-controlled vending machine capable of holding 500 bottles of wine, would be placed in grocery stores and other places, according to request on the LCB’s Web site. They would offer about a dozen different types of wine.
Wendell Young IV, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776, whose members include state store clerks, was among those briefed on the proposal. The kiosk has security identification measures such as fingerprints and biometric readings, he said. Users would have to register and purchases would have to be made with credit card, debit card or PLCB gift card.

Just when you think PA laws regarding the sale of alcohol can't get any sillier, something like this proposal comes along. This just doesn't make any sense to me. If you are going to allow adults to buy wine in grocery stores, why not just all the stores to sell wine? Why would there be a need to go through the trouble of a vending maching contraption that will in all likliehood limit consumers to the option of 12 crappy wines, in a machine that will be broken half the time?

The fact tha elected adults sit around and come up with this garbage is embarrassing. If today was April 1st, I would have thought the article to be an April fools joke.

Even the Bible belt states have more sensible liquor laws then us. I just don't get it.
