It sounds like Rep. Joe Pitts, Lancaster County’s congressman, is getting ready to vote for the Senate-passed financial-crisis relief package, after voting against “the Wall Street bailout,” as it was known as recently as Monday’s vote.
Here’s a statement Pitts released Wednesday afternoon:
I spoke with [Federal Reserve] Chairman [Ben] Bernanke today about how we can move forward in crafting a financial rescue plan that can be accepted by all parties. During our call, I expressed the frustration of many of my constituents with the details of the bailout plan that was voted on in the House. I expressed my desire to see a plan that does not put bureaucrats in charge of our economy, does not reward the people who caused this crisis, and does not threaten the free-market principles that have made America the world’s preeminent economy. I was pleased to have the opportunity to have a dialogue with the Chairman as we continue to work through this process.
Here’s betting he’ll cast a less-than-fully-pleased vote for it when the House votes Friday.
