Some good reads

This one’s a little late but Charles Krauthammer’s recent column on what was missing from the Democratic National Convention made two strong points.
1. “Eerily missing at the Democratic convention this year were people of stature who were seriously involved at some point in Obama’s life standing up to say: I know Barack Obama. I’ve been with Barack Obama. We’ve toiled/endured together. You can trust him. I do.”
AND
2. Hillary “Clinton’s withholding the ‘I’ve come to know this man’ was vindictive and supremely self-serving — but jarring, too, because you realize that if she didn’t do it, no one else would. ”
Then there’s these two pieces by Andrew Ferguson, my favorite writer at The Weekly Standard:
1. It’s All About Maria — A comical look at California’s It’s All About WE! welfare program, led by first lady Maria Shriver.
AND
2. “Can We Talk?” — A review of Eric Cohen’s important new book, In the Shadow of Progress: Being Human in the Age of Technology, about the ethical questions raised by modern medicine.
